The ‘Health and Lifestyle’ Events Roadshow came to an end in November but the support for people of Derwentside will go on.
June 25th 2008 is the date for our Summer “Better Life” Event which will be held at the Lamplight Arts Centre, Stanley.
The event will showcase local support available to anyone wanting to improve their lifestyle. Chefs, Nutritionalists, Life Coaches, and other professionals will be there to talk to people about their health. Citizens Advice Bureau and Welfare Rights will offer ‘Benefit Health Checks’ and Derwentside Employment Team will promote the benefits of work and the support available to get work.
Almost 400 people attended the events last year, 150 of which requested additional support for training or returning to work, and Derwentside Employment Team continues to work with them.
Stephen Paley who attended the Tanfield event last summer and started work for a local engineering company in February this year said, “The event was a great opportunity to meet people who may be able to support my return to work, I found it really useful”. He added “The regular contact from the team took away the isolation I felt and helped me build my confidence, the support was tremendous”
